The lights were dimmed for the final time at Muppet*Vision 3D on the evening of June 7th. On June 8th, 2025, guests could no longer enjoy the long-running 3D experience. When guests arrived over the next few days, they were met with a newly constructed wall with the new Monsters Inc. characters letting them know the area was under construction.

It was only a matter of time before we saw the final signs of the old Muppets Courtyard start to disappear. It started last month with the complete demolition of Stage One Company Store, and today it was the end of an area when the marquee was covered over, and Gonzo was removed from the clock tower clock face.

Below is what the Grand Arts Theatre marquee looked like on June 7th. Now Playing “Muppets*Vision 3D” with the M in a Kermit color and color. Now, what it looks like on September 9th, 2025.

A new “Monsters, Inc.” themed land, likely to be called Monstropolis, is coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, transforming the current Muppets Courtyard and parts of the Grand Avenue area. This immersive new area will pick up after the events of the first Monsters, Inc. film, where laughter now powers Monstropolis, and humans are invited to visit.

The highlight of the new land will be Disney’s first-ever suspended roller coaster, designed to recreate the iconic door vault scene from the movie, complete with a unique vertical lift that hoists riders into the air. In addition to the groundbreaking coaster, the land is expected to feature new dining and shopping experiences, and a new theater show in the former MuppetVision 3D building.

Construction began in 2025, with Muppet*Vision 3D, PizzeRizzo, and Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano having closed to make way for the new development. While an official opening date hasn’t been announced, it’s anticipated to be around 2027.
