World of Disney Brings Back Nostalgic “Opening Ceremony”. The World of Disney Store in Disney Springs has brought back a fan favorite event called the “Opening Ceremony”. This weekend, Disney Springs social media posted “The most magical opening moment at World of Disney ✨” where the first guest, normally a child, can “Open” the World of Disney store with a giant key, walk the new purple carpet first, and receive a commemorative postcard.
Typically, guests who lined up to be the first to enter the World of Disney store would be greeted by Cast Members waving and clapping as the first guests entered the store on a Red Carpet. This was always a special moment for shoppers, especially if this was their first time visiting.
Meanwhile, older guests, who are nostalgic, will remember going to the Mall and finding a Disney Store to get their Disney fix. The Disney Store would hold an opening ceremony where the first guest in line would be given a giant key to unlock the store for the day and, in return, get a collectible key that wasn’t sold in stores.
World of Disney has brought back that magical moment. The first guest in line is now given an oversized key that is the Logo D, light-up, purple and silver, and has Cinderella Castle at the end of the Key. With the help of a Cast Member, the key is inserted into a new box, which is decorated for Halloween, and turn the key is turned, signifying the opening of World of Disney for the day. The first guest then gets to walk to the new purple carpet and be greeted by Cast members waving and clapping.
The guest who opened the store for the day then receives a special postcard that reads “I Unlocked The Magic at World of Disney,” is also reads “It takes people to make the dream a reality” and has a sticker with “Own The Magic” and a set of Mickey ears above the words.
