A number of movie theater chains are offering unique “TRON: Ares” collectibles. The most anticipated items are a new series of light-up popcorn buckets inspired by the film’s iconic Lightcycles and classic arcade cabinets. These are designed by Golden Link, the same company behind the popular Galactus popcorn bucket.

  • Lightcycle Popcorn Bucket: This intricate, light-up bucket features Ares, played by Jared Leto, on a Lightcycle. The front and back wheel wells are designed to hold popcorn. It’s estimated to hold around 100 oz and will likely cost around $55.
  • Arcade Cabinet Popcorn Bucket: A modern take on the classic arcade cabinet from the 80s, this bucket holds popcorn inside the cabinet itself. It features the “TRON: Ares” logo and an image of Ares on a Lightcycle. The price is expected to be between $49.99 and $59.00.

Here’s a breakdown of where to find these items: All the Tron Popcorn Buckets announced have been announced for sale at the theater, but experience tells us that some of these will show up online at the theater’s stores, Cinemark Shop, Regal Shop, Mnarcus Shop, AMC Shop. Furthermore, when the full price list is available, we will update our articles!

  • Cinemark: Will feature the new 3D Tron: Ares Lightcycle Popcorn Bucket, a 170-oz popcorn tub, and a 20-oz double-walled cup.
  • AMC Theaters is offering a “Worlds Will Collide Combo,” which includes an 85-oz popcorn bucket with the movie poster design. They are also releasing a Lightcycle keychain as a gift with ticket purchases for Dolby Cinema screenings on October 12th. They have announced a Gripper “The Grid” popcorn bucket, and a gripper tumbler in the Ares data disk design.
  • Regal Cinemas has confirmed the Tron: Ares Arcade Cabinet will be a Regal exclusive (even though it is not). They will also carry the Tron: Ares Lightcycle bucket.
  • Marcus Theaters: Will have both the Lightcycle and Arcade Cabinet popcorn buckets. They are also offering a free collectible pin shaped like the triangular Ares data disk for opening night guests who see the film in UltraScreen or SuperScreen.
  • Alamo Drafthouse is offering an exclusive 16-oz pint glass designed by Chris Bilheimer.

Theater novelties are expected to be available for purchase online and in theaters between October 5th and October 10th, while supplies last.

New Ride Overlay at Disney Parks

In a tie-in with the film’s release, the TRON Lightcycle / Run attractions at Walt Disney World Resort and Shanghai Disney Resort are getting a temporary “TRON: Ares” overlay starting on September 15 and September 16, respectively. The ride’s classic blue and orange hues will be replaced with the striking red and orange light trails from the new film. The experience will also feature pulsating industrial sounds from Nine Inch Nails.

Now all we need is for Disney Parks and Disney Eats to announce Tron x Disney Parks! What about Tron Merchandise available at the Launch Depot or stores around the Parks? Food and Drink movie tie-ins would be great, and especially a popcorn bucket exclusive to Walt Disney World or Shanghai Disney, where the Tron rides are.
