Guests Notice Something Missing from Magic Kingdom’s Adventureland. Guests could be overheard today pointing out that the Adventureland sign in Disney’s Magic Kingdom is being removed. The famous signage was the backdrop to many family photos and memories.
The wooden archway was meant to resemble a stretched animal hide or a piece of fabric held by a bamboo or wooden frame, with the “Adventureland” words written on the stretched hide. The jungle-themed archway was adorned with props such as tribal totems, animal skulls, and other decorative elements. During the Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary, a golden Abu the Monkey was added to the sign that would play music when interacting with a MagicBand+.
The iconic entrance to Adventureland in Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom was designed to transport guests from the civilized world of Main Street, U.S.A., into a remote, tropical jungle. The sign itself was a key part of this transition; how else would you know you just left the Cinderella Castle Hub and entered the Adventureland area? I mean, other than that, the structures all look different, there is a physical bridge, um… the music changes. You get the idea.
The signage should be down for refurbishment and returned in a few days to weeks. We speculate it will be back in time for the grand opening of the Beak & Barrel lounge near Pirates of the Caribbean.
