Fans can look forward to exciting appearances and events featuring Hamikuma across Universal’s global locations, bringing his unique charm to thrill-seekers and families alike.“
But who is Hamukami? – A cute and terrifying zombie teddy bear with various objects protruding from its stomach. In Japanese, “Hami” means “sticking out” or “protruding,” and “Kuma” means bear. Created by and for Universal Japan for Halloween Horror Nights’ Gothic Killer Cuties scare zone in 2021, he then starred in Hamikuma Psycho Circus the following year. There have been rumors for years about the bear showing up at Universal Parks outside Japan, specifically the US parks.
Fall is HHN season here at Universal Orlando, and Hamikuma is an HHN Japan creation. Could we see a Hamikuma pop up during this year’s Halloween Horror Nights? Or a Hamikuma Dance Party, which is a huge success in Japan. What we do know is Universal City Studios LLC has filed for Hamikuma Patents here in the United States. Five patents were filed on January 15th, 2025, for various products.

This is the fifth year since Hamikuma was introduced, and finally, he gets his own Hamukami Popcorn Bucket! The popcorn bucket has a voice function that lets you hear Hamikuma’s message. His eyeballs are popping out, while various food and pearl-like looking strings of food hang out of its belly.
