Muppets Courtyard Demolition Begins with the Removal of Stage 1 Store. Demolition of Muppets Courtyard started over the last few days, and today, they removed almost all of the Studio One Store.
We recently spotted that the large Kermit the Frog statues on the backside of the Stage 1 Store had been removed. Now, Stage 1 Store only has one wall left standing. Pizza Rizzo, Mama Melrose, and the Muppets*Vision 3D building are untouched as of this writing. This is all in preparation for the new Monsters Inc. Monstropolis Land coming in the future to Hollywood Studios.
The Stage 1 Store in Hollywood Studios was a gift shop located in the former Muppets Courtyard, near MuppetVision 3D. It had a distinctive backlot warehouse exterior that blended with a Muppets-themed facade and a New York City street look on another side. The store primarily sold merchandise related to the Muppets, along with other Disney items.
We have updated aerial images from Bioreconstruct on X: The new images show that the Stage 1 Company Store has been completely demolished, and work is underway on the area near the old Miss Piggy fountain.

This is all breaking News, and we will update shortly.
Muppets Courtyard Demolition Begins with the Removal of Stage 1 Store
A new “Monsters, Inc.” themed land, likely to be called Monstropolis, is coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, transforming the current Muppets Courtyard and parts of the Grand Avenue area. This immersive new area will pick up after the events of the first Monsters, Inc. film, where laughter now powers Monstropolis, and humans are invited to visit.
The highlight of the new land will be Disney’s first-ever suspended roller coaster, designed to recreate the iconic door vault scene from the movie, complete with a unique vertical lift that hoists riders into the air. In addition to the groundbreaking coaster, the land is expected to feature new dining and shopping experiences, and a new theater show in the former MuppetVision 3D building.
Construction began in 2025, with Muppet*Vision 3D, PizzeRizzo, and Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano having closed to make way for the new development. While an official opening date hasn’t been announced, it’s anticipated to be around 2027.
