Disney Removes Galactic Starcruiser Mentions from Road Signs. Walt Disney World is officially moving on from the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser. Nearly two years after the immersive hotel’s final voyage on September 30, 2023, road signs pointing to the former attraction are now being covered and removed across the property.
Most notably, the “Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser” exit signs on Osceola Parkway have been obscured with a blue metal sheet.
Earlier reports from TheWrap.com, initially circulating as speculation, indicated the shuttered building would be repurposed. Disney has since confirmed to Attractions Magazine that the former Starcruiser will be converted into office space for Walt Disney Imagineering. This move will bring Imagineering’s secretive design and development arm closer to Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
The Galactic Starcruiser offered a unique, two-day, immersive “live-in” Star Wars experience, allowing guests to role-play, interact with characters, and participate in a branching storyline within a “spaceship” hotel. While ambitious, the highly anticipated venture ultimately faced challenges, leading to its closure.
