Disney Springs Closes Major Security Loophole for Resort Bus Guests

Disney Springs Closes Major Security Loophole for Resort Bus Guests. In today’s world, security is a top priority for guests at Walt Disney World, and the resort consistently provides a safe and secure environment. Disney takes security very seriously across its properties. Walt Disney World has significantly enhanced security at Disney Springs, implementing new checkpoints for guests arriving via resort buses. This change effectively closes a long-standing security loophole, ensuring a consistent level of screening for all visitors to the entertainment and shopping area.

Previously, four main entrances to Disney Springs — the Lime and Orange garages, the Watermelon Parking lot (West Side), and the Marketplace entrance — already featured security checkpoints with metal detectors and bag checks. However, the bus drop-off at Town Center, the arrival point for guests from Walt Disney World resorts, lacked these comprehensive screenings. Guests arriving by bus would simply be dropped off in the bus loop and have direct access to shopping, though uniformed Sheriff’s officers and K9 units were present.

Now, all guests arriving from Walt Disney World resorts on Disney buses will be required to pass through metal detectors and undergo baggage checks at a newly established checkpoint. This new measure is expected to add approximately 15 minutes to the entry process for bus guests, particularly during peak times, and travelers are advised to factor this into their plans.

From the Walt Disney World Website: Walt Disney World Resort takes a comprehensive approach to security across its property, which includes both visible and invisible measures. This includes the presence of uniformed police officers, specially trained hazard detection canines, security screening technology, bag checks, and other measures. Please note that we do not broadly discuss the specifics of our security procedures to avoid compromising their effectiveness.
