Updated June 16, 2025 – Walt Disney Imagineering has just announced the Reopening will happen July 22nd, 2025!

Just like you always check your mirrors when you get behind the wheel, I encourage you to keep an eye out for more information to share in the coming weeks about special previews for cast members, Annual Passholders, Disney Vacation Club Members, Golden Oak residents and Club 33 Members alike to ride before the attraction officially reopens.

From an email sent out today from a casting company, we may have a timeline for when guests will be testing the ride, which would give us a better idea of when Test Track may officially open. Test Track has been closed for almost one full year. The attraction closed on June 17th, 2024, to be completely rethemed and refurbished. There has been no official word on when the ride will reopen in World Discovery, but all signs are pointing to an announcement coming any day now.

An email went out today from FrontRunner Casting asking for families to film a commercial:

  • FAMILY of 3 – BOTH PARENTS / 1 SON – middle or high school age
  • SINGLE PARENT w/ 2 kids – 1 GIRL / 1 BOY – one in middle school, the other in high school – (can be either parent, mother or father)

EVERYONE MUST BE WILLING TO RIDE TEST TRACK!

This film shoot is happening on June 16th, 2025. Which means on this upcoming Monday, guests will officially be riding Test Track.

So, barring anything changing, on June 16th, guests will be riding Test Track, not ticketed guests, but invited to ride guests, which means Walt Disney Imagineering is already riding the attraction. If we go off other ride testing timelines, Test Track will reopen the third week of July 2025. For Tiana’s Bayou Adventure here at Walt Disney World, the commercial was shot end of May 2024, Cast Member previews started on June 2nd, 2024, and then the ride opened on June 28th, 2024. Which is almost one full month of testing and previews for media and Disney Annual Passholders.

We now know Test Track will have Cast Member previews, WDW AP Previews, Club 33, and so on. Cast Members sign up for Test Track Previews are on June 18th, for those who have access to The Hub.

Buckle up for a new spin on a fan-favorite attraction – Test Track presented by General Motors will reopen on July 22! This attraction update will debut an all-new musical score, as well as new scenes that highlight technology making our cars smarter and our lives more fun. One of those scenes showcases how vehicles can use advanced cameras and sensors to “see” the world they drive through. Walt Disney Imagineers were able to represent this tech utilizing over 29,000 points of light – and to explain a little more how guests will see through the “eyes” of a vehicle, meet Leigh and Cole.

While Test Track has always celebrated new and future automotive technology, it’s also a reminder of what a road trip is all about: spending quality time in the company of friends and family while embracing the beauty of the world around you.

Test Track at EPCOT is being reimagined into a new version, dubbed “Test Track 3.0,” with a focus on General Motors and the evolution of mobility technology, with a call back to World of Motion. The re-theming includes updated ride vehicles, new queue exhibits showcasing technological advancements, and revised show scenes. The current ride vehicles are being updated with new designs and a darker wrap for a better fit with the environments. The queue will feature six exhibits that celebrate vehicles and the people behind them.
