Disneyland’s 70th Anniversary celebration is taking to the skies with the unveiling of a brightly colored new hot air balloon. For decades, these aerial displays have been a hallmark of Disney Parks’ special milestones, and the latest addition promises to be just as cool, thanks to a remarkable, long-standing collaboration with hot air balloon makers, Cameron Balloons.

The Disneyland 70th Hot Air Balloon was launched this morning from the ESPN Headquarters in Bristol, CT, according to Cameron Balloons’ post today: “Introducing: the Disneyland 70th Anniversary hot air balloon! This stunning new Z-90 was unveiled this morning at ESPN headquarters. This has been a labor of love for all of us at Cameron Balloons U.S. & we are thrilled to see it in the air!”

Joining Cameron Balloons at the raising ceremony were Mickey & Minnie Mouse dressed in their Disneyland 70th Anniversary outfits. The new Disneyland 70th Hot Air Balloon has Mickey’s Head on two sides, and the Disneyland 70th logo in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle on two sides. Disneyland Resort California is written on the balloon, along with #Disneyland70. The basket is wrapped in the Disneyland 70th logo.

Cameron Balloons, known for their innovative hot air balloon designs, has been a partner with Disney for decades, bringing characters, movies, and iconic landmarks to life in the sky. One of their most famous creations for Disney is “Ear Force One,” a colossal hot air balloon shaped like Mickey Mouse’s head, which debuted for Walt Disney World’s 15th Anniversary in 1986 and toured extensively, becoming an instant aerial icon.

Beyond Mickey, Cameron Balloons also conjured a breathtaking “Castle in the Sky” in 1991 for Walt Disney World’s 20th anniversary, a special shape balloon designed to resemble Cinderella Castle, soaring majestically and further cementing the connection between Disney and Cameron Balloons.

To complete the effect, the surface of the balloon was injet printed, and an inflated 3-D façade of the movie’s house was created to encapsulate the basket.
