Grand Floridian Gingerbread House Construction Started for 2024 – Disney World Holidays. The smell of gingerbread permeated the air as we walked into Disney’s Grand Floridian yesterday. Shocking the senses because it was still October, and construction was not supposed to start until November rolled around, but there in front of us was the sight we had been waiting to see since last January, the Grand Floridian Gingerbread House.

This year may mark the 25th- Anniversary of the Gingerbread House at Disney World. On the backside of the display you can see in the attic space a cake, and on the cake, it is decorated and topped with a 25 candle. Next to the cake is a mini stove and oven with Mickey Mouse hand knobs. This just shows the amount of detail the Disney Culinary team puts into the creation of the gingerbread house.

All across this house, you’ll find white chocolate candy canes, edible snowflakes, sugar poinsettias, and over 10,000 pieces of gingerbread. Not to mention the 85 lb. chocolate Santa (yes, you heard that right), nutcrackers, toy soldiers, and snowmen that are all hand-painted by the Grand Floridian Bakery team led by Pastry Chef de Cuisine Kristine Farmer. The 500 hours spent baking gingerbread and 480 hours spent decorating are well worth it. Be on the lookout for the 24 hidden Mickeys found throughout the entire display to see if you can find them all.

No word on when the store inside the Gingerbread House will open it appears it will be earlier than in years past. The house in past years opened around November 9th. This year Disney has announced that most Holiday festivities will start on November 12th, 2024.

If you’re looking to take a taste of gingerbread and the holidays home with you, you’re in luck because this display has quite the lineup of treats available for purchase that will dazzle your taste buds, including:

  • Freshly baked, homemade items, such as Gingerbread Mickeys and Shingles, Stollen Bread, Brownie Christmas Tree, and Gingersnap Cookies
  • House-made Gingerbread Ornaments and Gingerbread Houses
  • Assorted Gingerbread Cookie Bags, Marshmallow Pops, and Milk Chocolate Pecan Fudge
  • Grand Floridian Combo Box featuring assorted fan favorite treats, including the cookies n’ cream Christmas Tree, exclusive to this box
  • Plant-based, no sugar added, and gluten-friendly options

Other Gingerbread House displays for 2024 will be at Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club, Disney’s Boardwalk, The Contemporary, and over at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge Jambo you can see a Ginger-affe and Ginger Zebra.
